请以ifiama(三)盛夏的时节，东方的天空刚出现鱼肚白色，人们还睡得正香甜的时候，一声清脆的鸟啼声打破了黎明前的宁静。
当一只大学牲发育成熟，步入职场，它，就会进化成一种杂食性的鸟类动物—百灵。百灵，是一种外表光鲜的鸟类。白天，叫一种叫做大厦的高大树木中觅食，由于种群数量过于庞杂，每只百灵面临着严酷的生存环境。他们不得不昼夜觅食以换取构建巢穴的原材料—工籽（工资）。百灵大多栖息在工籽分布，较为密集的城市中心，由于近些年来大量的鸟类涌入城市中心，使得筑巢的成本越来越高，百灵不得不通过过量的劳动来换取更多的工籽。为了节省时间，他们只能食用一种叫饭禾的难以下咽的植物，由于充饥出于鸟类繁衍后代的本能，百灵梦想着拥有到自己的配偶，但是要获得雌性百灵的欢心，他们必须拥有足够的工籽，构建自己的巢穴，对于一只成年百灵来说，为了获取更多的工籽，他们往往还要讨好办公室中的另一种鸟类—会鸡。而会鸡则只听命于鸟类种群中的领导者—CE鸥（CEO）。CE鸥是所有百灵的天敌，他们掌握着百灵生存，进化的资源。为了得到微薄的工籽大多数百灵不得不听命于CE鸥。
而有些面相娇好的雌性百灵，被CE鸥掌控的工籽所吸引，她们进化成金丝雀，直接住进了CE鸥宽敞明亮的鸟笼中。由于大多数百灵没有自己的巢穴，他们不得不用一定数量的工籽换取一个临时巢穴，寄人篱下的滋味并不好过，因为他们要面对另一种食籽动物—房鸫（房东），他们会将百灵辛辛苦苦觅得的工籽分去一大部分。
可怜的百灵，由于长时间保持坐立姿势，再加上环境污染，翅膀已逐渐退化。不能飞行的他们，只能依靠一些机械运输工具，将他们从寄居巢穴运送到工作地点。但因为百灵数量实在庞大，大自然遵循着优胜劣汰的的法则，身体不够强壮的百灵，很容易就会被强壮的同类淘汰。历经艰辛达到劳动位置的百灵，除了要面对CE鸥的刁难，它还要迎接生命中第二大天敌的挑战—科虎（科虎），科虎一遍又一遍地摧残着百灵。有时，甚至比CE鸥更难以应付。
由于觅食和劳动的不规律，越来越多的百灵患上了各种各样的职业病。其实，作为一种出身高贵的鸟类，每只百灵，都有一个在蓝天上翱翔的梦想，可由于构建巢穴的压力，他们往往只能为了生存而挣扎，尽管百灵们每天的觅食辛苦又忙碌，尽管他们往往辛苦半生，也难以走完漫长的筑巢之路。但是，依然有成千上万只百灵前仆后继，涌入这座城市，奉献自己的激情和汗水。因为他们知道，只有在这里，他们才有机会，可以成为真正飞翔在蓝天之上的动物—精鹰（精英）。
