Itisestimatedthatbytheyear20xx,Chinawillhave150millionelderly.Weshouldtakeanactiveattitudetowardoldpeople.Theyshouldnotberegardedasburdensbutpartofthewealthofsociety.Havinggohroughallsortsoftrialsandtribulationsinlife,theelderlyknowbetterthantheyoungergenerationaboutthemeaningofhappinessandgrief.Havingstooduptothetestsoflifeformanyyears,theyhaveaumulatedknowledge,wisdomandpracticalexperience,whichareindispensabletosocialdevelopmentandhumancivilization.“Respectingtheoldandcaringfortheyoung”hasbeenpartofourfiraditionandvaluableheritage.

Whenpeoplebeeold,theytendtoeasilygetupset,frustrated,andareafraidofbeingloneliness.They,therefore,expectmorespiritualfortandemotionalinteractionfromtheirchildrenandfriends.Theyoungergenerationshouldtakemoretimetotalkwiththem.Meanwhile,abettersocialenvironmentshouldbecreated,oneinwhicholdpeoplewillbefeelinglifeisbeautifulandworthliving.

Personally,Iwouldliketomakethefollowingproposals:Teamsofyoungvolunteersshouldbesetuptohelpthesepensioners.Theycansparesometimetohaveaheart-to-heartmunicationwiththem,hopingtofindwhattheyarethinkingintheirinnerworldandoffersomehelptothem.Classesforretireesshouldbeanized,whereoldmenandwomencanstudycalligraphy,painting,healthcare,singinganddancingandhavesportssuitabletothem.Somespecialclubsshouldalsobeestablished,whicholdpeoplecantalktoeachothersoastowardofflonelinessandlose.
