thetwopictureslooksosimilaratoneglance,buttheyaretotallydifferent.inthefirstpicture,apeasantboy,carryingaheavybundleofricestrawisoutofbreathunderthegreatpressure.hishopeistohaveaschooltoattend.inthesecondpicture,astudentisonhiswayhomefromschool,aheavybagofbooksonhisback.whathewishesisthathedidn’thavetogotoschoolanymore.howcanthetwoboysatthesameagehavesuchdifferentideasaboutattendingschool?
thetwopicturesshowsomeproblemsinthepresenteducationsysteminchina.inthepoorcountryside,especiallyinsomewesternpartsofchina,theeducationisalsopoor.therearenobuildingsforclassrooms,letalonegoodteachers.childrentherecannothaveregulareducation.theyaresometimesforcedtoleavetheirstudiesbecausetheirfamiliescannotaffordthenecessaryfees.however,thesituationistotallydifferentinthecities.almostallthechildreninthecitiescanhaveregulareducation.theycanenjoythebrightclassroomsandadequatefacilities.buttheyhavetheirownproblems.whattheyfaceistheendlesshomework,whichputssomuchpressureonthemthatsomestudentsdon’twanttocontinuetheirstudies.
giventheproblemsabove,ourgovernmenthastakensomemeasures.“thehopeproject”hasbeeninoperationtoensurethatchildreninthepoorareascanachieveeducation.somestrategieshavealsobeenputintoforcetoreducethepressureonthestudents.teachersareaskednottogivetoomuchhomework.emphasisshouldbeputontheimprovementofthequalityofthestudents.however,thereisalongwaytogointheimprovementofoureducationconditions.thewholesocietyshouldbemobilizedtomakesomecontributionstooureducation.
